Aloha,

Does anyone know the location of the Stelvio oil filter?

I am new to the site so please excuse me if this question has been asked before.

I just got quoted $600 by the dealer (Velocity Honolulu) on O'ahu, Hawai'i for the first oil change. I waited until the car told me to change the oil and that was too late for the FREE first oil change so I have to pay to have it done. I called my local garage and they will not touch it so I am going to do it myself but I could only find a Gulia oil change video online and the oil filter is on top of the motor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Giulia has a drain plug.

He explains it in the video, that is simply a different way of doing an oil change.

some people believe it is better...some people don't (I'm am in the second camp, mainly due to the oil left in the engine, IMO the best oil change is one done at home where you let it sit until there aren't even any drips coming out of the pan, leave it for 30 minutes or an hour, have lunch and come back..maybe pour a fresh quart in and left that drain out too, just to flush a little...engine can't be too clean, too dirty though...)

Nothing against Auto Fanatic, really like his stuff, just don't think that is a better way of doing an oil change. It is significantly easier and faster, and if you are doing the changes more often then recommended my issues with it are negated pretty much....

I have always believed that the junk in oil settles to the bottom, thus a plug on the bottom allows that last, nastiest part to drain out more completely. The pressure technique is fast and easy but see above.

I will let everyone know what comes of this.

Response from Alfa:

Dear Brian,

Thank you for contacting the Alfa Romeo Customer Assistance Center.
Thank you very much for your email. It is very frustrating to hear of such a negative experience you have endured and dealt from Alfa Romeo Hawaii. I regret your experience and appreciate the time and effort you have taken to bring this matter to our attention. It is completely understandable the inconvenience this has brought upon you and how disheartened you must be with this service center. I truly apologize for such inconveniences.
I had a moment to review your contact here Brian and I have determined that due tp such inconveniences and due to your loyalty to the brand alone I will be sending your case forward to our level 2 Alfa Specialists for further review.
