I think there are some build dates pre sgm that have car play, but the pre carplay vehicles will all be pre sgm, so that is an advantage for some to get or keep an earlier model.

is that also an "issue" for thoses who want to remap ECU ?

I believe it is, that the newer ones with "secure gateway" won't accept current modifications. tuners will have a new issue of unlocking the security before they can revise anything else.

but anything beyond adjusting a carb is beyond me, so i could be wrong about this.

For now most flasher use the boot method or connection directly on the engine ECU pins...so no problem if the car has or nor SGW.


For the MultiAir ecu the one found in 2.0 you can write via the OBD port, have to try on car with SGW



For the Diesel I am waiting any time now for the that option on one of my flasher

@KGB ... we have to talk..

I already knew that direct reading on ECU for remap.
That how my "tuner" will do.
(I will open a thread for Diesel Engine Tuning... For both of us and anybody else to share their doubt and work done)

For this to work properly it is a good idea to have the Q2 diff fitted to your car :-)
