DNA what does it actually change

I love playing around with the DNA modes. I feel it change shift points and pedal input but, does it actually change anything else? Engine mapping, timing advance, steering etc. It feels like the steering tightens up at higher speeds. Just curious.

IMO, it re-maps most of the electronic components in the engine. I suspect the full power is not available in "A".

Just for fun...put it in "A" and floor the gas, without letting up on the pedal put it in 'D"...the car will start accelerating faster.

I've done this several times and every time the car accelerates faster in "D" than "A" at all pedal positions including completely floored. In "N" it accelerates the same as "D" when floored. (at least that is how it feels to the seat of my pants.)

It also seems to tighten the steering and the AWD is less aggressive, allowing for enough slip at the rear to get it out just a hair before moving transferring it to the front in hard cornering.

I agree with all of that....have not tried switching during acceleration (thought that might not be a good idea). The AWD effect is definite...I have switched between A and D in a snowy parking lot and it is dramatic.

Agreed on the AWD change. I can get a bit of when spin in D but not as easy in N or A.

Yeah, it still eventually locks in in D, but A is much more stable for snowy mountains.

It is very noticeable in 90 degree turns....

I have a stop sign and either a right or left onto a highway to get anywhere. Since it is the entrance to the national park, plus the traffic from the military base as well as to n' from town, the highway can get very busy. So aggressive and fast turns from a complete stop have replaced freeway on-ramps for me in terms of fun, and in "D" it gives just enough of a tail out sensation to be fun.

Not saying it's 100% correct, but the following gives a good indication, based on giulia :

I drive in 'D' most of the time. When I am in a freeway/expressway and I am using the ACC with my wife...I drive in 'A' because the acceleration in open road (nobody in front) is not too drastic for her.

Thanks jwq2, exactly what I was looking for.

I use "A" when wife and kid are with me to give them a better ride. Wifey says the car is jerky. She drove it once and didnt like it. I think if she drove it for a week in N or A she would fall in love. Obviously I'm going to let that happen.
