This was kinda weird....

I was in my kitchen with my Alfa key in my pocket and I must have leaned up against a drawer handle. My alarm started going off with my car in the garage. I tried pressing the buttons on my remote but the alarm didn't stop. So I went downstairs, grabbed the door handle, hoping that doing that would stop the alarm, but nope. Got in the car, started it up but again, alarm still going off. I turned the car off, restarted it (alarm still going) and backed the car out of the garage. Alarm finally stopped once I put the car into D.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like the panic button on your remote got stuck. See thread about trimming that hyperactive button.

Hi WoodstockDude,

When I hit the panic button by accident (which happens as the key fob is the size of a refrigerator) I have to hit the panic button again to turn it off. Starting the car doesn't work for me and I never tried putting it in drive. But I did try just hitting the button again as it seems to just toggle.

The panic button on the key fob that I use is also very sensitive. I can brush up against something with it in my pocket and the alarm will go off. Luckily just pushing the button again will shut it. If that's the worst problem I'll have (6K trouble-free miles so far) - no complaints.
