There is no way to disable the start/stop system within the menu's we have. It is a PITA but just develop the habit on turning this off every time you start the car. I have read that the dealer tech's have access to a menu to do this but not positive. I do know that I had a dealer owned Stelvio as a loaner for a week and the engine never turned off even after an hour of driving. It was like the start/stop feature didn't exist and no warning lights on the dashboard. By disconnecting the hood open sensor under the hood the start/stop feature is disabled but will throw a warning light on your dash that won't go away until the switch is re-connected.

It is truly not that big a deal. Before long, you get into the habit of pushing the button to disengage the system when you start the car. When it becomes reflexive, the irritation is minimal.

Thanks,, guess I’ll see if I can access the switch from the removable tray just below it & tinker with bypassing/tricking the switch to think it’s engaged ( I’m sure it’s just 2 wires like any other switch) Again thanks for responses guys?✌

Don't think its quite that simple or we would all have done it by now.

I don't know how... but my auto stop/start was off for the longest time. When I picked it up, the salesperson asked if I wanted it on/off (asked for it to be shut off) and stayed that way. Occasionally it would do it but I'd say 99% of the time it was disabled. Had my software updated and now it's always ON. Not sure if it was a fluke or what...

It's very dependant on battery charge, amongst a lot of other things.... If the battery charge is low(ish) f.i., the start/stop will not work.

I'm also wondering if it has to do with the heat. I live in Las Vegas and supposedly will not shut off if car can't maintain the set temperature (I always have it on the coldest setting). Just finished driving around noon and the auto start/stop was disabled without me deactivating. It's 100+ degrees out so might have something to do with it. Last night when it cooled off, the auto start/stop was engaging.

I think if the difference between real cabin temp and set cabin temp is more then 4 degr.C, it wont shut off.

edit, from above doc :
• Outside temperature sensor: Autostop is prevented if:
• Outside temperature is lower than -16 °C (3°F)
• Outside temperature is higher than 82 °C (180°F)
NOTE: The temperature limits that have been set on the outside temperature sensor are
“extreme” and therefore must always be considered .
• ATC: Autostop is prevented if the difference between the climate control temperature set by the
customer and the temperature inside the passenger compartment is greater than ± 4°C (39°F)

If the outside temperature is > 180°F the start/stop status would be the least of your worries! I wonder if they really mean that.

Who knows, however, if the car is sitting stationary in the sun I could imagine the outside temp gauge will indicate quite high temperatures....

I think this just answered my question!

Having it on the coldest setting won't make it cool any faster. This is like ladies (sorry but true) that want house at 72 but crank it to 80 thinking it will heat faster. Has to go by 72 on way to 80....Max with recirc only quicker if inside temp cooler than outside. Now cranking the fan may work IF you have enough effective cooling surface on evap to not overwhelm it with excessive volume. 99% of the time on any of my cars, i leave it in auto...works for me. Why is it these folks are also the ones that want AA or Apple whatever....realize I am bustin here.

This is what I installed in my Stelvio - a 3-minute install and works perfectly:
