Ahoy,

Almost 1,400 miles and my fist check engine light. Auto Start/Stop Not Available. Dealer appointment set for next week. I've seen other posts with this issue. What was your repair outcome? Any repetition of the problem?

Probably a battery issue.

Your DNA is not working either, and I believe remote start is disabled as well - standard operating procedure:)

Get the codes read at the nearest AutoZone, and see what they show. In my case it was evap system leak, they had to do a smoke test to determine the cause. It may be as simple as gas tank cap not tightened correctly. My mechanic told me about a guy whose CEL came on every time after his wife filled the tank... three times, same thing - gas cap...
Do you just get "Auto Start/Stop Not Available" in the middle of your display? Do you get "Check Engine" And were you using your shift paddles? I had the warning one time only Auto Start/Stop, and I was using the paddles at the a stop sign to take it down to first gear. Then that error came up and stayed on, the car performed normally and I still could use all the functions, just the Auto Start/Stop was turned off. I also checked the A-button on the lower left and the light was not on (indicating it is in off mode (stays running)) until I turned off the vehicle. The next morning error was gone and Auto Stop/Start was working. Manual doesn't state you can turn off the Auto Start/Stop with the paddles and I really haven't tried it again. I have driven the vehicle at least 3K since that happened.
I got this warning/alert once on my Giulia. It appeared because I opened the hood and shut it incompletely. The stop/start feature is connected to the hood latch. Try opening the hood and then properly close the hood. Worked for me.

I checked this morning and the DNA is also not working. The remote start is still working. Thanks for the tip on the DNA.
The check engine light did come on simultaneously with the Stop/Start Not Available warning. Same situation after sitting overnight. The warning appeared after coming to a first stop after a morning start up. Wasn't using the paddle shifters.
Opening and closing the hood did not impact the problem, but thanks for the tip. Service scheduled next Tuesday. I'll post then what I learn from the Alfa service advisor.
If the start/ stop amber is on and the DNA not working it just needs a software update. It will take about 20 minutes. I had that and it took as long as a cup of coffee and I was on my way.

I did get the Amber/ start stop warning alone and it was a simple open the hood and re close it to catch both latches and gone away.

Computers.
Thanks for the 20 minute update tip. I may wait and have the coffee instead of taking the service shuttle home.

I am sure as long as they put it into the service bay right away and the tech hooks it up it will be that quick.

I had the exact same thing and when I called them about it they knew right away it was software.

I do say I am spoiled by how good my dealer is and they know I live a hour and half drive so they are always so accommodating and helpful.
Last night also had the same issue with start / stop and also engine check. Lifted the hood this morning to find coolant all over the engine block and compartment and coolant reservoirs empty. Managed to get Alpha to collect it and awaiting their feedback. Only got it 6 months ago which is a bit of a worry.
I discovered over the weekend that the gas cap had been left off and was in the cap caddy location with the gas fill cover door closed. The gas cap being off was the source of the Check Engine code. Apparently that code disables both the Auto/Start stop and the DNA function. The dealer cleared the code as a courtesy. Back to normal.
That is unexpected!

Normally the cap being left off will trigger a check engine light, but no start/stop or DNA system....huh...need to make sure to get that cap on and right I guess.

Here it is 31 July 2020 and I had the same problem today with my 2018 Alfa Romero Stelvio with less than 15K miles. I start the car and get the A on the dash and the message no Stop and Start and stuck in normal. Drove it to work and back home. When I shut it down I noticed the screen went green so I set it to dynamic and started it. The error cleared.

Problem is that I have one of maybe 10 Alfa Romeros in Korea. Service is going to be a bear.
I have a 2018 Ti Sport, which I drive a lot with kids going to practices, etc. The auto stop/engine light has been on for well over a year. Taken it to 2 different alfa dealers, as well as an independent European car mechanic. Lights go off after an oil change and after replacing the battery 2 weeks ago. Now the warning lights are back on and can only drive in the "N" mode again. I have 69,000 miles on the vehicle. At this point I give up

Hi Biden's Handler,
We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this. If you decide to return to your dealer, feel free to send us a PM. We'd be happy to offer an additional layer of assistance.

Bringing this thread back to life. I left my gas cap off and got the emission evap. error code, and lost my stop/start function. Put the cap back on, but I am unable to clear the error code. I tried 3 different code readers I have, and none of them will reset the engine error code.
(2 stand alone code readers, and via my phone using an ELM327 blue-tooth dongle, (Tried resetting the code with 3 different softwares.) What am I missing? Why wont the car let me reset the error code?
