Hey all,

OK OK, it's not all black, the interior is red. Um..
And I wasn't completely sure I wanted black wheels so I used Plastidip.

But man, I like it! Changes the look completely. Very stealth with the black window trim and dark tint.
The yellow calipers really pop.

If this doesn't hold up I will get them powdercoated.

What do you think?

Looks solid. And having cross shopped recently I can tell you Jag would charge about $5k for that effect.

Agree that the exhaust tips need to be blacked out.

Nice looking wheels, I’ve been thinking about doing something like that myself. I have red calipers and I think that would still look pretty good.

^Just mask off the fascia and spray on the tips, they’re part of the fascia, they don’t get hot.

Personally, I would tint the front windows as well, and have the wheels done in gloss black, the flat black looks okay but I think gloss would be much better, also, not to nitpick, but since the wheels are so big and the spokes are so thin, it’s pretty obvious that the inner barrels are silver, lol.

Thanks Alfatech..

I know.. The inner barrels are silver but they will get dirty and hard to tell soon. I might take them off and do it right anyway. This was test really.

I'll look into doing the exhaust tips.. Thank you.

That looks great.

I had planned on powder coating mine in the fall when I switch to my winter set but that looks so good I might do it at delivery.

very nice. I'm going to probably order a set of the anthracite colored sport wheels from AR when available in USA

I meant no offence, hope you didn’t take it that way. Sadly, I notice and analyze everything, be it positive or negative, so when someone asks my opinion, I tell them straight. It’s often good, but usually bad, but anyone that knows me knows how I am, so they’re used to it, lol. It is good to be like that in my profession though, so o don’t worry about it too much.

You might check with your dealer, at ours we have a guy that comes around and refinishes wheels, I think it was $80/wheel for them to be painted.

No offense taken. I knew it might look odd without doing the barrels..
I also knew I could take them off and do them later..

$80 a wheel??
I wish.. I'm in Canada.. Where we overpay for everything. A guy was at the dealership and they quoted me $650 CAD. I called a few other places and quoted even higher..

So I thought let's see what it will look like for $50 and some time.

I’m in Canada as well.
Any wheel/tire place should be able to remove the tires and have them powder coated for you, or you can paint them yourself, of course, which I did to my Jeep wheels, lol, I used tremclad.

Powder coating is very expensive here in Calgary as well, about $800 for 20" wheels.

AlfaMale there is a chain of wheel repair shops called Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists (AWRS) that has dealers in most major cities. Give them a call for painting services, I've used them before and they were very reasonable.
