Picked up my Stelvio on Oct 1, 2017 so don't believe I'm subject to the current recall re bad fluid -
However, after about 1000 miles the brakes started squeaking -- initially only at low speeds - but problem has worsened - now happens at all speeds from 80 on down (haven't tried faster :wink )
If you break hard the squeak stops - If you are constantly braking (lots of traffic lights / traffic) brakes heat up and stop squeaking but as soon as they cool off problem starts again.
Every time with out fail -- hot or cold outside doesn't matter - even happens in the rain / wet conditions.
Dealership has been VERY slow to acknowledge / address the problem - finally had a 2nd tech take a ride with me the other day and he admits to hearing and agrees its loud and annoying.
Problem is they claim they cannot do any repairs on the vehicle unless instructed by the mother ship in Detroit... Service manager kept telling me how his hands are tied.
After bringing it in a 3rd time - they finally received instructions from "Detroit" to inspect the pads for grooves -- none existed apparently (not sure if they're supposed to or not) and further informed to burnish the surface of the rotors, I believe -- again not a mechanic and was only half listening to the explanation because the tech indicated the problem was fixed...
Drive off the lot, get to first light, now the squeak has become a screech that lasts as long as you're braking.
Drove back - had to take the tech for another ride to prove it .. he heard it again ... and pretty much had to beg them to try again
VERY DISAPPOINTED with the outcome to date -- will report back, hopefully tomorrow.
