Hello.
I'm French and own a Stelvio 2.0 diesel 210 hp since July 2017.
I am very happy with this vehicle used as a family and professional.
This is my first Alfa Romeo after 25 years at BMW and Audi.
I am also a porschist for over 20 years and own a 991 Carrera S.
For me, its overall design was one of the reasons for my choice against the German SUV.
The driving pleasure, the behavior and the dynamism offered by this SUV mean that we just do not feel like driving an SUV.
3 reasons that you feel when driving:
- this SUV seems "light" for a vehicle of this category type Q5, X3, XC60, GLC. Normal, it weighs about 200kgs less than its competitors (doors, bonnet, aluminum trunk, carbon transmission).
- The Stelvio is in current use a propulsion that does not rock in 4WD in case of degraded conditions
- The direction is ultra direct (which will baffle drivers of this type of car who are not used to driving a sports car).
I had never driven an SUV that gives the impression of driving a sedan. It's bluffing.
The engine is in terms of efficiency (470Nm and 210cv) rather in the high average of what the German manufacturers offer for 4-cylinder turbo diesel.
Frankly enough for road use, family and daily.
A little noisier than my ex V6 TDI Audi but no more than the Mercedes 250d that I could try.
The ZF8 automatic gearbox is top and fits perfectly with the torque motor.
For the passage in manual, there are the huge aluminum pallets coming from Maserati.
Side quality of materials, it is a little above VW or Jaguar; close to BMW and Mercedes and slightly below Audi.
I did not notice any particular assembly problems.
Generally acceptable for a budget lower than Audi, BMW, Mercedes or Jaguar.
The indoor atmosphere is very different from what is found in a classic SUV.
It's more sporty, sober and uncluttered. It's more like a sedan than an SUV.
This bias is logical and agrees with the behavior of the car.
For infotainement, the car does the job but no more.
We are on a classic operation with controls controlled by a rotary knob and directional (non-touch).
What is surprising is that the screen is wider but lower than conventional screens that gives an impression of smallness.
Otherwise it is rather intuitive, fast and easy to use.
Otherwise, the equipment used on this type of vehicle are all standard or optional: adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, emergency braking assistance, etc.
In summary, a very innovative vehicle on the SUV market.
I do not regret my choice.
Its strengths and differentiators outweigh some shortcomings with competitors Audi, BMW or Mercedes.
