So, here at EBC Brakes We like to offer a free set of pads each month to a randomly selected forum member.

In past giveaways We have discussed our first cars, garage and storage spaces, famous people we have met or would like to have met and weird and wonderful vehicles amongst other topics.

We have been discussing amongst the EBC team music recently, and for the September pad (front or rear set) giveaway I would like to start a discussion about your desert island discs; If you were stranded on a desert island with only THREE records (and assuming a means to play them), what would you choose and why? Let us know the story behind your choice, if they have significant meaning to you or simply because its a killer song/album!

My choice would be;

The Beatles - The Yellow Submarine Soundtrack. Favourite song - Nowhere Man : I used to watch the cartoon-film with my Grandad when I was young, and although not an actual album, it has a sense of nostalgia for me.

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced. Favourite song - Red House : Rock music was all I would listen to as a kid, and this would 100% get me through any hard times stranded on an island!

Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers. Favourite song - What's Golden : One of the first hip-hop albums I ever listened to that really made me fall in love with the Genre.

The lucky winner will be randomly selected and announced within a few days after the closing date of 1st October 2021 and details will be posted on this forum within a few days of the closing date.

Please be aware that this thread may appear in more than one section on the forum and one winner will be selected from the whole forum, not a winner per thread.
Pad choice will be based on availability and where a chosen pad is unavailable, an alternative will be offered.

If you are not the lucky winner, remember EBC Brakes are pleased to be able to offer a 10% discount off their braking products to all members of the forum community using code FORUM10USER
This discount code can be redeemed at EBC Brakes Direct | EBC Brake Pads | EBC Brake Discs or with our USA partners at Perfect Brakes | EBC Brake Pads | EBC Rotors

Weezer - Blue Album - friends older brother introduced it in high school. Opened up so many difference music genres and emotions for me. Lol.

Kanye West - College Dropout - eat, sleep and breathe this album in college.

Tenacious D - D-Sides - that one summer road trip in a Chrysler 300 rental when this was on loop blasting.

Beastie Boys, Paul's Boutique. Start to finish, maybe the best hip hop album ever, definitely top 10. Never gets old. Bought it when it came out, listened to it once, did not get it at all. Sat unlistened to for 10 years, put it on randomly... First time I realized teenage me was an idiot, so great music and teaches valuable life lessons!

Valerie June, The Moon and The Stars. Be hard to not bring all her albums..might have to sneak the Astral Plain single...her music calms, makes my soul feel soothed.

Pink Floyd, The Wall. Can't imagine not listening to that regularly.

..but really....if it had to be a CD type format, I'de make a mix with lots of songs from various people....LP, Johnny Cash, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ella Fitzgerald, Nas, Rakim, Alice in Chains, Grandson, Weird Al, more Weird Al, Mike Patton and all his bands...need an iPod or something.

This is a great giveaway!!! I love EBC brakes! Had them on my evoque. Anyways, my 3 albums would be:

First album: The 1975 - i like it when you sleep for You are so beautiful, yet so unaware of it. I love this album simply because every single song is a memorable hit. There's comedy, romance, sorrow and even some angst. But most importantly, I love it because when I first heard it, I first heard the song Nana (sound # 16) a few days after my grams died in 2019, right before the pandemic. The song fit my life so perfectly and it's bittersweet everytime I hear the song.

2nd album: Finch - What it is to Burn. This album is a complete history and summation of my teen years. Everything I did right, and everything I did wrong, culminating in these 13 songs. Love, loss, anger, regret, joy, pain...its all there in those songs. Every song is a road-trip masterpiece.

Speaking of Masterpieces, the third album I'd have on the island with me would be
Masterpiece Theater by Marianas Trench.
The album just hits different. It's so over the top theatrical, comical and rhythmic. If only I could have a small screen or TV to watch the music videos for the songs because they all blend into one another in a stroke of genius.

So, those are my three albums and that's how I would spend the rest of my life on an island and I would be content.

I think if we swapped Spotify play lists, they would be pretty similar 😎

One of my snowboarding play lists runs the gamut from beastie boys, Linkin Park / Jay z, Justine Timberlake, blink 182, the killers, suicidal tendencies, Johnny Cash, 2 Pac, Anthrax, cypress hill, rage against the machine, Bowie, Queen, Devo, Alt-J, Mobb Deep, Wall of Voodoo and more....

A quote I remember, there is only 2 kinds of music, good music and shitty music...

And they are different for everybody.
Me, I like a little variety 🤔😅
