Do you have any idea if the previous owner had the same problem?Well the intermittent buzz is back. After a very short 3km drive the buzzing is back. I will need to send the video to alpha dealership and bring the vehicle back for more testing.

I just saw this. It’s not an issue so I’ll have he dealer look at it the next time it’s in. Thanks!Hi Cornbeef and [email protected],
We're sorry to hear that you both are experiencing this. Please feel free to send us a private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this as we would be happy to assist you during that process.

So I had the same issue tonight and stumbled over this whilst Googling.Well the intermittent buzz is back. After a very short 3km drive the buzzing is back. I will need to send the video to alpha dealership and bring the vehicle back for more testing.
I was perusing the Owner's Manual and I noticed an odd suggestion on page 141. Maybe this will alleviate your buzzing problem?
Used to do the same with other turbos I had. Some people would even install turbo timers. That is not an odd suggestion. Having driven turbo cars (SAAB) since 1979, way before water cooled turbo housings this was something that had to be done before shutdown no matter the driving conditions. I always followed that procedure, usually an idle down of 60 seconds to 90 seconds. I never replaced a turbocharger on any of my cars and some I have driven over 150,000 miles. Incidentally, I follow the same procedure with my Stelvio as well as my Honda CX500TC turbocharged motorcycle.
To clarify, is the EGR noise identical to what is heard in the YouTube video?A few weeks ago after I got my car back from the ECM after-run timer recall, I have noticed the after-run time have significantly increased post shutdown. I got so worried that I finally took out the stethoscope and probe around the engine bay to pinpoint the after run noise.
What I found out is that there are 2 different kind of noise during the after run period. The low frequency hum, which is coming from the electronic coolant pump of the low temp. coolant circuit which serves the intercooler, throttle body and turbo. There is also the confusing high pitch buzz coming from the driver side of the engine and it turned out that high pitch noise is emitting from the EGR valve/throttle plate unit right underneath the turbo intake. As to the reason why the EGR valve has to power up during the after-run period, I think I have to leave that to you guys to figure it out.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. Turbo Timers back in the day handled this problem. Pretty neat. I always wondered how it was such a big deal back 10+ years ago but new production cars no one really knows about it let alone talks about it.I was perusing the Owner's Manual and I noticed an odd suggestion on page 141. Maybe this will alleviate your buzzing problem?
The high pitch noise from my car doesn't sound as bad as the noise in OP's video. I just uploaded my clip to Youtube, you can compare it. Where I was pointing at is the EGR unit. It is interesting that the Alfa 2.0t GME has the low pressure EGR system that is quite similar to the modern diesel engines. To clarify, is the EGR noise identical to what is heard in the YouTube video?
Oh, I have that noise as well -- dealer said they thought it was something related to the headlines. The high pitch noise from my car doesn't sound as bad as the noise in OP's video. Yeah, I thought at first it was the turbo’s cool down cycle, but this sounds different. I have an oil change coming up and will have some look. Not worried -- with so many electronics, these cars never are truly “off”!!She be coolin down maaan...
Three way cooling valve. Drive it like you stole it on your way to the dealer and wait until a tech is physically with you to turn off the car.Did any one ever figure out the cause of Jpizzo's intermittent noise? We just noticed this in our 2018.
So, just my normal driving then. 😂Three way cooling valve. Drive it like you stole it on your way to the dealer and wait until a tech is physically with you to turn off the car.
It’s actually a defective part in this case, as confirmed by my dealer. Issue went away after replacement. It is trying to cool the car down that is what you hear. I have noted this, before reading further, that this car runs really hot. It bothered me because I have owned many cars with my previous car being a turbo 4 and never felt this kind of heat from the car. That is one issue but it is also related to the noises you hear because there is software installed that is trying to cool the turbo, most likely. That is why you should let it idle for a few seconds to help in this process or as said before chill and drive slow the last few miles home. This is not needed with most modern turbo cars but I can attest you should do it with this one.
