Your owner's manual should have a maintenance schedule. For engine oil changes they say to never exceed 1 year/10,000 miles (16,000 km).

I couldn't get a hold of the salesperson after delivery for the key code, so I called the Service Advisor of the Alfa Service Department. He was quite helpful, but when asked about the first oil change for the Stelvio he got stumped. (wtf?)

He placed me on hold, then came back on the line that the first oil change is at 10k miles.

That was amusing.

I LOVE MY STELVIO
, but what type of basic training does FCA provide to the Alfa dealers?

There is a reminder setting accessed through the menu on the screen so you don't forget. One dealer mentioned that there was a sensor to monitor oil quality but nothing in the manual. Anybody aware of this? Interesting there is no dipstick.

Also- the first service is covered by Alfa and an opportunity to update software and check over the vehicle for any teething issues.

Ah, the manufacturer recommended oil change intervals. They are usually too long when the manufacturer pays for the service.

I keep my cars a long time and have always changed oil more frequently than suggested by manufacturer.

10,000 miles for first change? On a brand new engine? I'll change mine at 5,000 the first time, and maybe even before that.

Cost of an oil change in your area??

For those of us who plan to keep their cars for a long time, maintenance costs are a factor. I will be in that group and i am curious about the cost of a single oil change, never mind tuneups and other essentials. I called 3 dealers in my area about the cost of an oil change.

Just like @karlfevans , at first they were all baffled by the question and had to put me on hold to find out. They came back with: " Well they are so new we have never done one so we have to look it up", so I suggested to look up an oil change price for a Giulia and they came back with these cost numbers.

Minimum 1 hour of labor plus parts. Labor involves removing a protection shield/tray before they can get to the drain plug. Parts cost from $51 to $80 depending on which dealer you talk to.

One dealer told me they charge $175 for the service, another $245 and the 3rd one said $300!!

How much does your dealer charge you for an oil change in your area?

First service is gratis. I intend to have the hitch installed at that time and Alfa roof bars if available. Advance Auto Parts told me they have filters in stock so subsequent oil changes should be $50-60 with synthetic at Precision Imports, our local garage around the corner. Any recalls I will drive to the dealer- 40 miles- and make a decision at the time about other services. Software updates should be gratis.

The Alfa Romeo dealer has a Jeep store and they were excellent and frankly I enjoy going there to walk the lot and see what's new. For me, an enjoyable outing.

I'm sorry but there is NO WAY an oil change will cost $50-$60 .... even if its not the dealer and you get a smoking deal from a local garage it will cost more than that .... if they quoted you over the phone they don't know the work that's involved and the price of the special oil and special filter ..... NO WAY

Dealer told me the didn't know the price because they have never done one, but estimated it would cost somewhere between $300-$750 for the first years service, I didn't bother to tell them yet that Alfa says it's free (or that they are smoking crack if they think I'm paying $750 for an oil change, the local dodge / jeep dealer techs will get an exotic treat instead). BTW, year 2 requires a new serpentine belt if I recall the manual correctly.

Believe it or not, I get the oil changed in my wife's Miata for $25 at a small shop near my house. The price includes the filter but not the oil. I provide the 5 quarts of Mobil1.

I get my oil changed in my Audi S5 at a European specialist near my house. The specialist provides filter and oil (8 quarts) and the cost is $180 with the 8% Texas sales tax.

I may get my Stelvio oil changed at the European specialist, only because the guy is so anal and he has higher level certifications than most Audi and BMW mechanics. I bet it costs $160 ( two fewer quarts of oil).

On the infotainment center it has access to the selection of the “car” category which shows the count down for the year and miles left to the oil change, which matches my owners manual. It also shows the oil level. My dealer stated after the first free oil change, the price is $200.00. Before I do the second oil change, I will be shopping around to find the right shop to service my Stelvio.

Marco: I have serviced my vehicles for years with synthetic oil and that is the market price. The local guy was Service Manager for Porsche Audi and we trust him.

I BELIEVE you, i just don't believe them! It makes no sense! $50-$60 for synthetic oil and a special filter plus labor? I honestly think they don't know about having to remove parts before getting to the oil plug. You can call them or stop by and ask about whats involved in the oil change and see if they have even looked under a Stelvio yet.

At delivery. He offered the second one too but then gave it back into the deal. My understanding it was part of the value from AR (first).

In italy, after 1 year and 15.000km a total of 220 euros, with all the filters and a perfect oil quantity, pay attention to the quantity, is important.
