In my 22 Stelvio, when I have Android Auto up on the Radio Infotainment screen, it displays the upcoming/next turn by turn instruction in the center gauge cluster pod.
When I switch from Android Auto on the Radio Infotainment screen, then the turn by turn instruction in the center gauge cluster pod only stays up for a short period of time until you get close to that next turn.

Nothing I needed to do to enable this feature, except plug in my phone, and set a destination address.

update your phone. AA now has options for full screen or split screen. Default is the split screen. It looks too much like the Apple carplay's google map now.

@rsml123 as @dbla said, in pre-2020 models, AlfaConnect will NOT let Android Auto go full-screen/wide-screen. It's an AlfaConnect limitation NOT an Android Auto limitation.

For those wondering, to enable/disable this feature go to the settings widget in the infotainment system. Then go to "Cluster"and enable "-Show Nav Info".
It works with Android Auto while using Waze for navigation.
