My 11yr old son is a car nut and when we started entertaining the idea of trading in our secondary/commuter car (14 fusion hybrid) he immediately pointed us toward the Stelvio. After test driving an F-pace, XC60, RX350, MDX, the Stelvio is hands down my choice - my wife still has concerns about size/usability, but I beat cancer this past year and I need a little fun in my life!

I found a 2022 TI via EchoPark with 12k miles. It's being transported to me in Nashville. The dealer tried sneaking in all the protection/warranty packages into the monthly price, but I balked and said no. He pushed and said it's $100 deductible for anything that goes wrong. Am I the crazy one in telling him it's still under original factory warranty? He got condescending with me "do you realize how much it's going to cost to repair!?" - seems an interesting strategy. I plan to go to MOPAR route once factory warranty is up - is this safe/smart? Thanks in advance!

Absolutely! Just make sure all of the maintenance has been performed as required by Alfa. For your case I think that will only be the first oil change. I would recommend going to the 4-5k oil change as well.

the Mopar warranty is the way to go and I wish I would have done that before warranty end. I am at 82k and counting.

Dealerships are iffy and I do believe they find things to fix but who knows for sure. Any work is expensive on the car so the warranty which is reasonable (why didn't I get it?) is the way to go. Basically for me only place to go for maintenance is the dealership or its DIY. I use the Premium Mopar/Chrysler Oil and Filter change package which has saved me quite a bit on oil changes.

Congrats on the new ride and definitely take advantage of this forum as well as the Giulia forum. Great information on both sites.

Thanks for your responses! Just to be clear - don’t get the EchoPark protection and just ride out the original warranty until it’s time to go Mopar, correct?

Depends. Do you live near an Alfa Romeo dealership? If so, use the factory warranty and buy the Mopar Max Care warranty when the time comes (best time to get it is a little before the factory warranty ends, either time- or mileage-wise). If you need to rely on an independent mechanic, then the Mopar one may not be your best bet, as it only works at dealerships. That being said, there don't seem to be a ton of independent mechanics to work on these, anyway. Your best bet is going to be Mopar Max Care serviced at a dealership. If that's not an option find someone who can take care of the car and see what kind of warranties they work with.

If you haven’t yet and you’re on FB, join the Alfa Romeo owners groups. There is a USA owners group and Stelvio specific pages too. Congrats on the new ride!
