Hi, lucky to find this forum to calibrate a strange but serious issue with Stelvio-peers before going to the dealer....Got my new Stelvio (Europe "first edition") summer 2017 and mostly very happy, but lately (two last months) encountered a big issue.

Four times the liftgate has started to open by itself when vehicle has been in motion - driving on the road :eek It starts to open, but then stop and alarm displays on the dashboard to indicate liftgate is open and car in motion (".....") . When I then stop the car the liftgate continues by it self to go up "all the way" unless I manually interupt. Trunk has been empty and nothing has "pushed" on the door. It just happen without and warning and by itself......

Needleess to say my girlfriend is hessitant to drive the car anymore as she was with her sister and two kids in the car when this happened last time on the highway. Hard to go to dealer when I cannot reproduce error. But 4 other persons have been in the car when it has happened who have asked "What the f*** just happened?"

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I an unlucky soul?

imagine driving a dual carriageway with a dog in the trunk, and having this problem...
have you contacted your dealer yet?

BTW I would alter your username, as now your e-mailadress is fully visible
How do you change your username? I can't find it anywhere in the Forum?
I’ve seen this before and it was the connector to the lift gate handle was getting wet and corroded, it’s located behind the tailgate filler panel at the bottom, behind where the licence plate mounts.....for some reason the connector isn’t weather sealed and causes issues like this, you could tell the dealer to simply remove the connector and solder/shrink wrap the harness instead.

I can't seem to find it myself.
Probably best to contact or PM one of the moderators.
Scalewoodman is a super-moderator, best you try him
I am on my BB tonight but from a desktop edit under cp I do believe. Tomorrow between phone calls I will screw with it unless one of the others gets there first. Ciao for now.

We're glad you reached out with this. This is certainly not what we hope to hear from our Stelvio owners , and would like to offer our assistance should you choose to have this looked into further by your dealership. Please send us a private message with additional details if this is something that interests you.
