New member in Minneapolis + engine brace question

Hey everyone,

Newbie here. I am picking up my Stelvio from the dealer this evening. It's my first Alfa and I'm very excited! It's a Stelvio Sprint in Alfa Rossa. It's a 2022 model, but has only 120 miles on it, and I got a really good deal, I think! :)

Forgive the basic question - I've noticed that a lot of Alfas have an engine brace, but mine doesn't. I asked the dealer, and he said that some do and some don't. I haven't found the dealer very helpful or knowledgeable, so I thought I'd ask here - should I be concerned? Do only higher trims have them?

Thanks so much!

Good catch. For MY22 only the veloce trim gets it. You can buy one on eBay for -$120 like I did. Hard to say what diff it makes on an already stuff chassis..
got picts of the new ride. ?

Hey Matt2172 - thanks so much! It definitely sets my mind at ease. I think i'll get a brace from eBay too!

The dealer has been very poor at communicating, which has been quite frustrating, but my wife's been helpfully reminding me to separate the dealer experience from the actual vehicle. Picking it up tonight - will be sure to post pics!

Thx again.
I think a broom stick tied to the struts nuts will have the same effect. Mine were loose for about 6 months and after I tighten it, really no difference. There was one that goes under the body in a x-shaped one at Madness... Does anyone have that one on?

BTW S_C, welcome

This was debated in another thread a while back. The strut tower braces sorta came along with Mcpherson struts. That design concentrates most of the load on the shock tower mount relative to a double wishbone suspension (which your Alfa has.) I also have a Miata convertible (again a double wishbone front) and I think I feel a very slight improvement, but its a flexy convertible. And unlike the Alfa the brace mounts from the shock tower to the front firewall and doesn't span from shock mount to shock mount across the engine bay as in the Alfa.

Hello there fellow Minnesotan! Which dealership did you went to? I have good experiences with the one in St. Louis Park, but heard good things about the Maplewood location too, at least as far as the service department goes.
