The Austin area Alfa facebook page send information that is worth noting for alfistas.

FYI-pending tariff legislation will add 25% to importing used and vintage cars as well as to auto parts. Any parts from our retail or on line suppliers will get hit with a minimum 25% price increase. $400 worth of parts will become $500 overnight.
Public comments on the pending legislation ends on 22 June. Please call or write your congressman or senator.

Let's be clear, trade wars have only losers-no winners.

The tarriffs reflect declared value at the port. Anything more added on top is opportunistic gouging and hysteria is a great time to take advantage of consumers. Seriously. And our Chinese friends take full advantage of American success so calling them out is a little too late but a ballsy act. I am not sold on the idea but push back was long overdue. See where it leads.

German carmakers are now pushing the EU for no tariffs, but speculation is the French and maybe others want to keep them. There are a lot of obstacles/interests preventing free trade.
Most every country out there has tariffs to protect their industry and as a revenue source, and the US has pretty much gone along with it like a Marshall plan for developing and once redeveloping countries - but there was never a phase out put in place, so now it's expected to be an endless one way street.
So yes, it will be interesting to see if this push results in less tariffs worldwide or more. Either way some in every country will be saying it's bad for them, and others will see benefits.
