Anyone have a stelvio with the spare tire option? I bought this option and I would like to see a picture of where it goes and how much space it takes up. Normally the battery is in the back but with a spare tire do they have the battery up front?

I have the can of fix a flat option, with an air compressor. I asked my service guy about ordering a spare... After he asked me if I was sitting down, he said it would be $1200. The battery is in the area of where the spare goes. With the spare tire option, you need a different shaped piece of Styrofoam, to lower the battery, which sits under it. The spare is a foldable unit, that still needs an air compressor to inflate it. I have not seen it, but would love to see how this works, but for $1200, I'll call road side assistance instead. If anyone has seen this, please post a picture.

Wquestions about your compact spare

Compact spare tire option includes a tire that needs to be inflated and includes an on-board compressor - price is $450. I have it and it looks solid.
Just got my Stelvio and want to add the compact spare. They are saying that none can be found right now. We are also in PA. Did you have trouble getting your compact spare? It seems odd that they can’t find a ANY! Thanks

my dealer promised they would get me a spare, as mine was already in production when I put the deposit down and couldn't change the order, Even put it in writing on the purchase order... However it didn't happen as it seems they can't order them, specifically they can't order the different trunk liner parts that hold the tire (remember the battery is there, so it's actually pretty important that it is secure & fits properly).

Having just blown a sidewall on my car that I’m selling in a month for the Stelvio on a pothole I’m starting to question my ordering without a spare.

I know you would feel better with the spare but with roadside assistance from AR and probably from your insurance company, it’s not that big a deal. Whether you’re waiting for the roadside assistance or changing the tire yourself the day will be ruined.

Better this morning than tomorrow when I’m on my way to skate a game on PPG Paint’s Arena’s ice sheet. But your day is pretty much hosed when you lose a tire. At least road hazard is paying 60% of it. Nothing like the stare I got at the mechanic when I explained I just need to get a month out of the car. “But it’s a 2012, it’s perfectly good still”. “It’s not an Alfa.” *blank stare*.

That’s when I realized the 20 year old has never heard of Alfa.

Wow. I had a similar experience. My car was a 2012 also. 50k miles. Great condition and fast as the Stelvio but it wasn’t an Alfa. Lol. My neighbor told me a 7 year old car is a new car in his eyes. But it isn’t an Alfa!

I posted before on this thread, but I would just like to find an inexpensive donut spare I can put in the back for remote road trips. A flat in urban areas should not be a big deal with roadside assistance.

I purchased my car from the lot and the dealer told me he would get me the kit that comes with the new car and I could just swap it out. Now, from what you are saying, I’m not going to be able to do that! What you are saying makes sense, I just wish I was told that from the beginning. The dealer even charged me for the spare tire kit. And it has been over a month and still no spare tire:(

I was referring to the compact tire option that came with the car ($450) - not aftermarket.
I too am referring to the compact spare tire option that comes with the car. My dealer told me that it was a quick swap out for the spare tire kit and charged me the spare tire kit option for $450 on my dealer invoice. I am waiting on the spare tire kit...but now it seems like this has to be done preproduction like a sun roof. I am really upset now because this would have changed the car I purchased...I would have ordered one WITH a spare tire. I even explained to the dealer I did not feel comfortable without a spare tire because of the places I travel...
