Many folks here have purchased the 265/45R20, 295/40R20 combination and found vastly improved ride quality, looks and AVAILABILITY. I have Falken FK510s on my Maserati GTS and they are a new favorite tire. Fabulous in heavy downpours last month. They held up to a track day last summer far better than the PZeros!! Their drivability does not fall off the cliff below 50 degrees either. I safely drove the GTS in low 30's last week and the tires still did their job .....and yes after my pZero debacle, I tested them aggressively. Especially when you factor in the price, these should be a no brainer option for someone looking to retire their PZeros but they still want a Max Perf summer tire. Ride quality is improved due to larger size not a softer tire. I have emailed Tire Rack to inform me when the next Falken special is run so I pick them up for next spring. OD is in the 29.5/29.4 range which is identical to the OD on my winter setup. Speedo is spot on perfect. Weights are 30/33lbs just like stock, so not heavier like a bunch of the AS options I researched esp the portly Toyo STIII's. Fronts only 1lb heavier due to size
In winter I run 245/50R20 and 275/45R20 Michelin X-Ice. Same OD as above. They were fabulous last winter NO ISSUES. Tire Rack at first did not want to sell me these sizes, but after I installed them, they signed off on the fitment as an ideal winter choice for the stock Quad wheels. So keep these in mind folks

FK510 were the #1 rated UHP tire at Tire Rack for years. Some new offerings are the new party favs but I stand by long term data. My rears on the GTS are down to 5/32nds and they have shown zero loss of grip......2/32nds came off in one day on track! Unmolested , they would probably get 12-15k miles with stock alignment..No complaints. If I get 10K, they will be ~50% cheaper than the pZeros......and better. Hell even the Pirellis in f1 have sucked this year!!!!!

The sidewalls are still plenty plump up front.

Well, just ordered these for spring...once the weather obeys!! Based on my FK510 experience in the GTS though, I strongly doubt the same issues will occur. But, I won't let them see Maine till May!!!

Just to be clear, if you heard the coversation I had today with one of the TR gurus, the last tire on his list to recommend in any class is a Pirelli!! My looper is not an isolated event in Pirelli world.... Buyer beware...don't but that outdated ****!!!! MOST OF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW. This was uninstigasted conversation!!!! I was ordering the Falkens, mentioned my Pirelli event and off he went.

DON'T BUY PIRELLIS!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Written by Pirelli by chance??? Seriously who wrote that? F1 tires had a history of being pretty lame last year. More than a few debacles
Just because the Pirelli CEO sucked a lot of luxury car **** to get them to use the tires doesn't mean jack...Consumer Distorts?
Useless below 45 degrees. Turn to grease in a few laps on track. Wear out faster than any brand on the market.......really....laughable statement.

Your average consumer wouldn't know a good from bad tire if it ran them over. Consider the number of numbnuts that buy a tire based on the LOOK of the tread pattern. Pirelli, in tire world is like Sears, Kmart, Ames, Caldors, Bradlees etc. Also think former stereo equipment brands that sell mostly trash now, Scott, Fisher, Klipsch, Bose. Many of these companies lived on their names...that caught up to all those companies. If not for f1, Pirelli would be yet another hasben like Uniroyal. Firestone is the Pirelli of Indy world. Caddilac lives onits name with few products in the past 40++ yrs worthy of the brand it once was. Nothing Ultimate about BMW anymore. BTW what other Italian Tire is an Italian car company to use???? Hyalf the time they are used because they do ride decent.............
Why is it Pirelli is ALWAYS at or near the bottom of consumer determined lists in Tire Rack, Discount Tire etc????............ because they either bought them and hated them or they came on a car, hated them, bought something else and were much happier. Been this way as long as I have shopped there...25yrs......
Just clarifying the farce of a statement printed above.

Robb report owner survey.
I like pirellis. Have for a very long time, including for motorcycle racing . Consistently good, with good feedback.
I was aware they are hp summer tires, and posted my semi - controlled cool weather test (with warning) here, fall of 2018.
People on the giula side seem reasonably happy with the corsas for track days - but many change for better cold weather street use, or miles, or pebble "stick" concerns. And magazine track testing of giulia (corsa) and our less sticky sq pirelli comments don't have tire complaints.
Does someone else's latest offering make slight improvements in certain areas - sure. And then pirelli puts out their latest and they have a new target.

Never heard of RobbReport...Is it a guy named Robb's report? Are you Robb? hehe
Corsas heat cycle out even faster than the old Yoko A048s;
Regular P Zeros turn to Veg Oil in VERY few laps. Definitely faster to go greasey than any other Max performance tire I have experienced. Blatantly obvious last summer that my front Pirellis turned to grease whilst my rear FK510s (only a UHP tire BTW in 75degree temps) maintained solid performance all day. This was confirmed by my HPDE boss driving the GTS...professional hired gun racer.

Pirelli sure seems to aim low to me...real low. Can't speak for Motorcycles..not my thing

Yeah, I guess if AR hadn't put crap corsas on gq and pz4 on sq, they might have gotten decent reviews, maybe even set some nurburgring records.
How could they (and other fast car co's) make such a blunder?
Or maybe your looper blunder is isolated (how many reported here? 1?) - although semi-common in high hp rwd cars, especially when trying to put on a show on old tires or cool weather.

I tend to get a hint of sarcasm here.
#1. Lap times done on a fresh set I can say with 99% certainty so no heat cycling concerns A manufacturer trying to get great numbers could give a rats ass about performance after that lap. Scratch one of your thoughts.
#2. If it was 50-60 degrees outside, a PZ4 may actually survive a few laps.
#3. My blunder was exacerbated by a tire that gave me NOTHING...not even a mark on the tar. Try talking to a few repair shops...its a HUGE problem for them and the insurance industry. You may soon see major surcharges on hyper tired vehicles a la the turbo fiasco of the late 80s early nineties when the insurance industry almost singlehandedly killed the turbo. 75% dumb on my part with an extra dollop of useless **** by the tires. Therre are other posts out there including our British colleagues. They have lots a rain experiences to share.....at least I was on a dry road, albeit a 36 degree one. hardly sub freezing.....
Tire Rack might have a clue. They test more than anyone in the business I believe. PZ4 ranks 19/36. PZ 29/36. Rosso tire was #36.....PZero Nero GT was in top 10. A new tire I believe.
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=MP. Maybe the tire engineers should spend less time sucking each others dicks and more time choosing the best. A paraphrase of Frank Zappa from Joe's Garage....liberally speaking.

#4. Maybe a Pilot Cup2 shod car would have readily beaten the Corsa tired car. Guess we won't ever know, will we? A comparo test may have been quite telling....A Trofeo tire is a major click above a Corsa btw. Pirelli's best effort.
#5. Exploding Pirelli's in F1 last year was not exactly confidence inspiring, don't ya think??? Forget the exact race but it was pretty ugly.

It matters not that one tire might be a tenth faster, or last an extra lap, or anything else you've said.
Anybody who was paying attention anywhere anytime knows an ultra hp summer tire isn't going to perform as designed in 36 degree weather.
Yeah, los of people, me included, Clarkson Sunday times, have noted that you can get the tail out easily with the summers in cool weather.
One guy that I'm aware of had a big fail in this situation with this vehicle - and instead of saying whoops, I should have listened to everyone (big thread on here on what temp to change tires) he's been blaming the tires for his inability to keep a qv in a semi-straight line with some (intentional) tire spin.
