Three noises - worth checking into?

I filled out the lengthy online new owner satisfaction survey a few days ago and, in addition to the already mentioned items on this forum, I noted 3 things that I want to get looked into - but are the type that usually come back as "we didn't hear that while we tested it, etc."

AR called me today (I now have a case worker) and told me they were definitely worth looking into and to do a drive together with the dealer so I can be sure they hear it. Good idea.

The noises are:

1. Whistling noise above the front passenger seat - most likely from the sunroof - when going over 60MPH. I know you can expect wind sounds but this is a rather annoying whistle that, once you hear it, its tough not to.
2. Slight rattle in the driver door - kinda like something is loose in there.
3. Intermittent crackling in the rear driver side door speaker. Not just when connected via USB, at a reasonably loud volume (done intentionally sometimes to drown out the above 2 sounds haha). This is more likely a bad speaker and they'll probably replace it.

Anyone else experience similar? I'm probably going to take it in next week.

Thanks!

I've heard a rattle in the drivers door, at least in my case it's obviously induced by a particular frequency of bass from the stereo at a high enough volume. haven't done anything about it since it really doesn't occur that often. Your experience my be different.

I have the slight rattle in the drivers door. I took it in and they said they found some felt stripping not mounted correctly, I still have the rattle. I look forward to seeing what they tell you.
I have some rattling noise comming from where the seatbelts on both sides are above each seat...it comes and goes sometimes on one side sometimes on the other sometimes on both and sometimes don’t hear anything...I don’t pay attention ...it bugs my hb lot...will b interesting to find out what it is. Too lazy to take it back to the dealer

That's exactly where I hear it and same here - sometimes its gone and then comes back after driving for a while. And the last 2 days I haven't heard the wind whistle from the roof. I'll schedule my visit for next week and keep everyone posted.
I have a plastic bit flying free somewhere in the dashboard. It buzzes sometimes but not always. Sometimes on energetic cornering it goes skittering to the outside of the turn.
I might have fixed my door / speaker rattle problems this weekend. Noticed that quite a bit of the rubber window trim on the driver door (above the handle) was pushed in - possibly leaving a way for air to make its way into the door and rattle some things. Actually noticed it was like this when I picked up the car but didn't think too much of it. I spent some time making it correct and didn't hear any noises on my highway commute today. I had to open the window completely then pull on the trim a bit to get it out. I first tried sliding a credit card behind it but that just made it worse.

The whistling noise in the roof is still there - but happens when going above 75 MPH. I probably wont bother with that one....

Hope this helps!

Can you post a pic showing specifically where you found the issue?

Sure - Here you go. Where the arrows are, the rubber was pushed in. I'm hoping this was enough to push air into the door (perhaps wishful thinking) but since the rattle is a bit intermittent I won't know for sure.

I have the same gasket thing happening - I have not noticed any downside but it looks bad - and you are correct - trying to fix it with a credit card does not work. I will try your method. Thanks
I am having an issue of crackling coming from the Driver dash speaker, only when playing through my phone, took to service and they couldnt figure it out, and of course while I was there the sound did not start. So they sent me home, disappointed :(, car is less then 2 weeks old.

I downloaded the updated ending in 55, I installed it last night. I have yet to test to see if the noise went away. I will update if the issue doesnt go away, can we get the service centers this update? they wanted to swap out my speaker, but being that my XM & regular radio did not have this issue, that would have been a complete waste of time. the service center had no idea what I was talking about when i told them about the update I wanted to try, and asked me to email them the information from this forum.

Download file https://download.witexedi.aftersales...ETM_SW_M86.zip
extract and add to thumb drive, make sure the drive is formatted to FAT32
Put drive into USB, Turn on car (not engine, just start without foot on break) the screen will prompt you to download...follow steps took around 20 minutes

msherz,

Thank you for providing that information. Since downloading the update, have you been able to test if the noise went away?

I have to admit that seeing the consistent issues with various parts of the Stelvio, sounds and rattles, multiple recalls for water based damage and sealant problems, infotainment shoddiness, electrical system and lights going haywire and then stopping all together, sunroof craziness, terrible experiences with dealer knowledge and customer service, has made me very nervous for the delivery of my vehicle over the next week and a half. I'm excited still and am hoping to be a Alfa fanboy, but it seems that quality issues are still a problem for them. Several people enjoy the ride and the novelty of the Alfa name, but many are having to work hard to keep their Stelvio out of the shop and are dealing with several nuisance issues. Fingers crossed that I get "lucky" and don't experience many of the things talked about so far.
A good majority of the issues has been related to the battery problems and the water intrusion recalls. Both of which are known and have a solution and your new delivery will have corrected these already.

My sons F150 has had numerous issues and its been in production for 40 years, so certainly a brand new model is going to have some teething issues.
My Mazda has not started 3 times in the past week and has had 2 rides to the dealer on the back of a flat deck. If you are looking for transportation that will not have an issue or recall then you are not going to find it.
Difference is, when my car is driving perfectly I'm still driving a Mazda. When you are driving a Stelvio......

I purchased my Stelvio Ti Sport in late Dec 17. I had a rattle in the drivers door, they worked on it, but still happens every few days, but not as loud, so it does not bother me now, I had the two recalls done last week. That is it for me, no other issues at all; take a look at all the other manufacturers having issues right now with proven models?. I keep in mind that owners with issues seem to get more press than happy owners, just my opinion.
Weird, I have no rattles or strange noises no nothing out of the ordinary. I often drive with no sound/music to meditate so I would definitely hear stuff like that while driving. My previous Evoque had on the right-front passenger door and it drove me nuts. (My wife never heard it so she thought I was crazy.) So I feel for anyone who has one in their Stelvio.

Maybe you should contact the Alfa Tech member of this forum to get his input and experiences since he works on so many Stelvio's? He's been a great help...
