Greetings all,

Yesterday I took my two months old 2018 Stelvio TI Sport, 3,400 miles, through the car wash. I must have had ¾ - 1 cup of what looks like oil liquid leak into the passenger side from behind the glove compartment. Luckily I have some WeatherTech floor mats that I was able to get the leak out. Simply put, it freaked my wife out. For the next hour or so, I had some strange things happen with the car, from the phone acting weird and making long beep sound, to the accelerator once not seemed to have gone dead for a couple of seconds when going from full stop. All worked fine after wards. I just wanted to know if anyone experienced same issue. Do I have an issue with the car's seal. I have washed my car several times with no issues, and no issues either in rain.

If you have had similar experience please share your thought on what may have caused this leakage. Is this a documented issue with Stelvios? I wished I thought about taking pictures or video of this leakage.

Nearest dealer is eighty miles away.

Best Regards!

I greatly appreciate both suggestions.

Note. My apologies everyone for calling the car wash, a "Wash Machine." Wifey made fun of me all morning, and of how I managed to fit my Stelvio in a wash machine. I looked all over but could not find a link to correct it along with a couple other confusing phrases, or even for a link that allows me to delete/repost the incident. Anyways, I'm glad the post got you all's responses.

Cheers Everyone!

Hi marwan,
We understand how concerning this may be. We recommend have your dealer take a look at this if you have not done so already. You may also send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance while your vehicle is at the dealer.

Alfaoffroad,

That's one of the things I wanted to fix on my original post. I wanted it to say "Olive Oil Looking Liquid". The other correction was to add the word "hand" so that it reads "I have HAND washed my car several......."

Lydia,

Thank you! I intend to drive to the dealership Saturday and let them look at it.

Thank You, Both!

Happy New Year!

Hello All,

So, I set up an appointment with the dealer for the 12th. I can't wait to bring it in to have them take a look at it. I am starting to get worried because today the same thing occurred, only it was caused by rain this time. What really ticks me off is that there was a recall for the same issue, if I am not mistaken and the dealer that sold it to me (in FL, 800 miles away from where I live in LA) claim that they took care of the recall. Either theydid a lousy job repairing it, or they never done it all and claim that they did.

Attaching photos.

Oh Well!

Yes have them also look at the wiring connections at the bcm and the wiring (especially the grey connectors) behind the passenger sill plate. I’ve yet to see a water leak, but I have seen wires corroded from water leaks, so either there’s a leak not related to the recall, the recall wasn’t done, or wasn’t done properly.

Thank you, Jttar and Alfatech!

I will definitely request that they complete checking them all, and I will post updates.

In the mean time, if anyone has other suggestions for me to mention to the dealer, please keep them coming.

Thanks every one!

Windshield would also leak every time it rained, but if you went thru a car wash that had undersparay jets , and you have a simple grommet not in position, that could do it. Could ting is the small engine makes access a snap for most of this stuff. Feels oily? Soapy underspray?? lots of carwash types of soaps have that feeling esp before being diluted.

Hey Y'all.

Here is the latest.

So, I took my Stelvio to the dealer last Saturday. The service lady told me it should take them at least two days to do an overall check where the leak is coming from. On Monday she calls me and told me that I was right and the dealer I purchased the car from did not do the re-call work right, "Not At All" her words. That ALFA wanted the recall work redone. Then she added that she should have the car ready for me on Tuesday, or Wednesday. On Wednesday when I called to ask if the car was ready, she said that she ordered the part and she won't have the car ready until sometimes the following week. We will see. In the mean time I driving a lousy Nissan Rogue from Enterprise. The more I drive the Rogue, the more I miss my Stelvio!

Alfatech. I did request that they do what you suggested. Thanks!

Well that sucks, we usually keep those recall parts in stock, pretty simple to do actually, I wonder why it wasn’t done or done wrong.

Thanks for update Marwan. To me, that's ridiculous but I know that your hands are tied. I sure hope that the Rogue from Enterprise is on the dealers dime.

Hello all,

This morning my wife called the dealership to check on the Stelvio. They told her it was ready, that pictures were sent to Alfa USA headquarters and they were waiting to see what needs to be done about the repair and the other dealer not doing the repair correctly. They said they will not release it until they hear back from Alfa Corp.

Finally the call from the dealership came that my Stelvio was ready for pick up.

I can't wait until I return home from Vegas Saturday, and take it for a long spin on Sunday. I hope I don't have to do any further posts regarding this problem.

Many thanks to all. To Alfatech, Jttar, ViscontiVerde 164L*, Alfaholico, CBRacerX, ALFAOFFROAD, AlfaRomeoCares, for posting ideas and pointers.

Cheers Y'all!

Marwan, you do, of course, know that we will want to hear that there is no more leak after you get a chance to test it. Meanwhile, ride like the wind on Sunday!

Hello Y'all,

So, I took my Stelvio for the drive I have been waiting for. Everything seemed to be fine, including a run through one of those mini car wash. No leaking issue there.

I asked my wife if she noticed that through the entire one hour drive the line departure warning never went off once, and she agreed. I noticed that it was de-activated, so I turned it on and I repeatedly going over the line on a side road and nothing. I really don't want to have to take the car back and have to wait another two weeks.

One thing I want to mention. Six days prior to me taking the car in a rock hit the windshield and made a quarter size bulls eye that I had Safelite treat. I honestly can't remember if the lane departure warning was still working or not when I dropped the car off at the dealer. Just in case it has anything to do with issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks A Million, All!

I need to add that the chip spot on the windshield is about ten inches from the bottom and ten inches from the right, on the passenger side.
