As a dealer, I can do it. However, I can't edit the proxi with the factory WiTEch scan-tool, I have to use Multiscan or another. Also, as a dealer, if I have to take a configuration report and send it to Alfa for some sort of diagnosis on your car, they can void your warranty, for bypassing the security gateway and overwriting the build of the vehicle into every module. So no, I won't do it if the vehicle is under warranty.

Always the first time takes much longer, until you figure out things.
I did not check the time, but maybe an hour and a half, while checking out the video as I was doing it.
Also, I have checked out Autofanatic's video on Youtube, on how to take apart the steering wheel, since I have swapped out my start/stop button for a red one.
I'm not completely done yet. I'm expecting the 2x pair extension cables to arrive. I have purchase them from the source, Poland(stuff4cars).
I don't want to cut up my hands again, so I have purchased 2x pair of these cables for the future. Also, I have cut off three fingers from a Mechanix gloves, to be used to swap out the SGW.
Up to this point what I have done:
  • leave the steering wheel straight
  • disconnect the quick disconnect(negative) cable from the battery(leave the hatch open)
  • use a flat end(not ball) 6mm or similar allen(maybe torx) wrench, to poke in the airbag removal hole, at the bottom of the steering wheel. push the wrench in, until airbag lifts up
  • there is a yellow and gray connector that has to be removed, to be able to remove the airbag, place it aside after removal
  • there is a blue connector that has to be removed also
  • remove rubber cap, that is over the 24mm nut, then with a 24mm socket wrench remove that nut
  • slide out the steering wheel, make sure that you leave everything in the same orientation(do not spin around anything)
  • with torx 25(if I remember correctly maybe 20?!) remove two screws from the bottom cover of the steering column, the pull it down, it will pop out
  • now you can remove those two bigger black screws that hold the paddle shifter metal bracket
  • install the paddle shifter, by reinstalling those two black screws, and also the 4x small screws.
  • reinstall the steering wheel, if you want you could use some mild Loctite(blue) on the nut's thread
  • reconnect the blue plug
  • install the airbag, with the gray connector and the main yellow one, then pop the airbag back in it's place
  • if you have purchased the steering wheel bottom cover, reinstall it with the two torx screws, I have just cut out some area for the paddles to fit
I have stopped here, and waiting for the cables to arrive.
For some of these connectors, you may need a small screwdriver, to be able to push in those tabs.
Hi. I just installed the paddle shifter to my 2020 Stelvio. All went well and in total it took about an hour and half. I'm trying to avoid purchasing the lower column cover o i cut out the notches for the paddles. However i'm struggling with reattaching the two covers, it seems that the two pieces are not aligning. any insight ?

Almost done, was able to modified the lower cowl with your measurements and it looks good enough but I haven’t been able to fit in properly. Would try later to avoid frustration lol and if not ordering a new one tomorrow.

Hi.

I also have a 2020 Stelvio. Were you able to activate the paddle shifters with multiecuscan ? and what version ?

thanks
Tom

Yes, I was able to activate it. There is a Youtube video with a Giulia, I followed that video and went well. I'm not home right now, so I'm not be able to check the version, but I did this like 2-3 years ago.

I’ve seen that video several times and it was very helpful but since on a 2017 Giulia I wasn’t sure if it would work on a 2020 Stelvio

I'm in the middle of the install, I have installed the paddles and I'm waiting for those extension cables to arrive from Poland.
I have removed the steering wheel, to make it easier.
It looks pretty simple, but if you don't feel comfortable, don't attempt it. You need to be handy, to do this job.
Seen some videos and read some installs, but in my opinion, you have to remove the steering wheel to install it properly.
There is also a pair of philips screws, that attach that small metal bracket to the rest of the steering column. There are those tiny 4 screws and tow regular size black screws.
Some people install one tiny screw per side and they call it done. In my opinion, this way the paddles sit crocked, because the bracket sits on top of those two bigger screw heads.
Also if you don't buy the steering column bottom cover, you will have to make some cutouts for the paddles.
Then there is the extra extension cables needed to install the new SGW. It seems that it makes sense to buy two pairs for future uses, that is around ~$135-$160. Also as somebody else said here, that replacing those cables it is a meat grinder. I was just feeling around, to see where that thing is and my hand is all cut up.
Definitely you need some gloves for this job.
Also, somewhere I have read, that when you do the proxy alignment, the car has to be on level ground. Not everybody tells you that. My driveway has a slope, garage is full with other stuff. I will have a hard time even doing the proxy.
Those screws, what size are they, and do you know where I may be able to get them? having a hard time finding them.
thanks
