Bet they are light, spokes look thin enough to need the reinforcement struts.

 

I was wondering if the design was intended to be functional or just aesthetic. That definitely makes sense though!

Hate to sound like a housewife but they would be a nightmare to clean. Part of the attraction of current QV teledials is how easy they are to clean. I can get everywhere with just a mitt on hand and what’s more do it quickly. It takes about a minute per wheel for ceramic coated regularly cleaned wheels. Just a brush twirl for the nut holes.
here both the support area and the nut area are tricky washing shapes. I’d say 5 minute plus per wheel for regular washes if coated and if you neglect it - a nightmare to deep clean. For me anything that is hard to clean just ends up left dirty longer term and that defeats the purpose of nice wheels.
Aesthetically, I love the centre section - that is seriously good looking, but the supports on the perimeter distract from the clean dial shapes - too busy.

I completely agree about the hassle of cleaning wheels that are more intricate in design, but am a glutton for punishment as you can see from the aftermarket set of wheels I went with for my current QV lol

Those wheels are not the same design or size, but are cool nonetheless.
