Now that you had it installed for a while have you had any issues with ventilation? I'm having mine installed this week but considering mounting it to the backseat because I've read these have issues without proper ventilation.
Hmmm interesting. No, I’ve had no problems with ventilation. Performing flawlessly and I’m extremely happy with the result.

Thinking of taking a shot at one of these sub-mods. Lots of good info from Fire2K1, Troy810washere, ifly4fun and Scottlarson737.

I'd like to first get some feedback on removing those interior panels without wrecking them. Any experience on that ?

Also, any thoughts on getting the all-in-one sub/amp like Kicker Hideaway vs. bypass the entire factory system with a new amp and sub.

( I have HK upgrade system with existing, factory sub.)

thanks All !

Hey group, If you are in Dallas Texas and want a sub upgrade... I just had TintWorld in The Colony Texas do mine for $1,350. Did some sound deadening and 300watt amp with a Memphis dual coil sub. Sounds great and it if perfectly in the stock enclosure on the HK system. I also did a bass controller run right to the drivers console by my right leg. The manual control isn't necessary but they put it in, I like having it.

Ask for Sean, tell them Matt sent you. PM me for any details.

thanks spdklz. i am spending on H&R springs, forza exhaust controller and ceramic Pro treatment first, but getting this done is 4th on my list. I am in DFW often so this could be a good option. So why would you need a controller for the sub?

Wanted to quickly mention that the stereo sounds much (much) better using Amazon Music on HD-only (Highest fidelity) setting, via car play. Superior to Tidal in my opinion, which was somewhat surprising.

I am now wondering whether my FM antenna is defective or perhaps not properly installed. The FM-Hd radio reception and quality so so bad, I assumed the stereo just wasn’t good. Now that I know it is capable of solid sound, my suspicion has turned to the FM tuner and antenna.

anyone else experience anything like this?

Maybe i should move this to a new thread.

So i bought a kicker hideaway compact powered sub. Best Buy had a great open box deal, too good to pass up. So, if you will, some questions please. First, anyone have any issues with it under the back cover near the battery after time with theirs in there? Heat, vibration, poor sound? Second, please, what wiring kit is best for this application. Even if I have someone install it, which kit to buy? 10 awg, 4 or which brand? So many online to choose from. Is there a need for the LOC? Some, if i recall, did not use this? Do I need it? Thank you and much appreciated. Mark

Well, my Kicker Sub has been installed by local Best Buy in Altamonte Springs. OMG, not only did my installer David Ramos do an amazing job, clean, no wiring showing anywhere, it sounds much better, filling out the missing lows. Nothing like Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill, like college days, in the Stelvio. Cost me 180 for an open box, excellent condition Kicker, retailing for $300, and $128 with tax for install. Crutchfield, I have purchased from the in past. They have no knowledge of the Stelvio, and even with me providing them info about folks on this forum doing the installs, they are disinterested, and I have no use for them anymore. Good times, Mark

Great to hear, Mark! Sorry to hear about Crutchfield . . . Def not my experience. They knew wire colors, where they were, etc. Always nice to have someone else do the work. Being that you got such a good deal on the speaker, it only made sense to spend the extra on the install. Welcome to a proper system!

Hello there Scott Larson. I reached out to Crutchfield, and had spoken with a couple of their techs. They had no experience with the Stelvio, but said what you suggested, which is they know that with such an installation, it is about wiring. I was not that comfortable with doing this, though I had done head units and speakers etc. Just not on my newer Stelvio, which we know can have its own issues to begin with. I even spoke with their lead Customer Service guy, who was nice, but he had no knowledge but he would put me to the techs. Problem is that even with me sending the videos from the Forum, he put me on the backburner through the holidays, and that made me feel unloved. Why should I have to wait, while they helped, presumably, other customers. Best Buy ran a sale and had open box excellent condition, so worth a shot. Item arrived in a day, and install scheduled, with a guy who felt quite comfortable doing it. All worked out. Hope you are staying warm, and if ever down here, still will get that beer to you. Mark

Reviving an old thread as i want to perform this upgrade myself.
It's been years since i worked on ICE but this seems very straight forward tho there are no pictures of how to remove the panels or get to the wires.

@Scottlarson737

Where did you pull the sub wire from? From the sub itself?
Where did you connect the ground and where did you get the power from?

I really don't want any shortcuts or fires :D

Hey guys/gals,new here. I recently purchased a 2018 Stelvio Ti sport and was wanting to add a powered sub to enhance the base stereo system. I joined this forum hoping that I could find where someone has already gone through the process & as well had best place to tap/wire color details. Unfortunately I found nothing. So I have got the installation complete and thought I’d share my process & hope it will help someone else in need. I first started with tapping the rear door speakers, very easy to hide the wire and keep it clean. Tap each side L- orange/orange-blk stripe twisted together,,,R-green/green blk stripe,, picture includes of where I tapped to keep it clean. Returned first sub, thought it was blown till I got a second and had same problem, sounded blown and would cut out on protect mode. Do yourself a favor and purchase a LOC converter, it worked great after installing this product. It’s almost as the rear styrofoam area was meant for this sub, fit beautiful with a few modifications (drill holes for wires). While I had rear left panel off tapping remote turn on wire to 12v plug I noticed there is a spot for 3.5” speakers, so ran wire for those and have Rockford Fosgate on order. I also hooked up some basic tweeters inside that panel for a bit extra from rear. I may have left something out but hope the pictures or the proper colored wires will help someone in there attempt. Good luck
Hi, congrats for your upgraded system. I know this is an old thread, however I wanted to ask if you could share how you removed the rear panel that hides the place where you install the additional 3.5" speakers. I see you took a pic of where they should be placed.

Thanks!

I have the base system, and when I was working on mine, there wasn't a spot for the extra 3.5". I'm guessing that is in the HK set up. Bummed me out when I was looking for it.

This is indeed strange.

According to the Stelvio's manual, those versions having the HK system do have the midrange speakers installed at the sides of the parcel shelf into the 3.5" holes. The premium and base system do not have such speakers.

I haven't disassembled mine yet, so I can't say if mine does have the necessary room to accommodate the extra speakers.

Could you please share the procedure you used to remove the panels that would hide the placement of the extra speakers ? I have understood how to disassemble pretty much all of the other parts that I need to, but I'm not sure how to remove such side panels. There seems to be also an "airbag" sign/logo on them, so I don't want to mess with it.

Thanks!

AG

Are you talking about panel in the cargo area?
