I'm having this set up installed today. Cheapest price I've found so far for rotors and pads for the QV. I'll let you know how it goes with them. Their from Top EuroMachine. They also go by Alpine Performance for some reason.

I do this work myself, I don't usually change the rotors unless they're under minimum thickness or they have heat spots (warped), normally, there's no need to turn them either, just follow a solid seating procedure for the pads. Good luck.

If you plan to wait until the day you decided to work on the car, you will be disappointed and unhappy. if you buy your brake parts ahead of time, there will be no issues.

Dealer recommends brake rotor replacement with every brake pad replacement. Is this something everyone does?

Land Rover recommends the same for the LR4, but I only replaced rotors every other brake job with no issue.

My dealership did brake pads without doing the rotors. No issues

I took my car to a local tire shop to save a few bucks but they managed to not be able to reset the codes (not sure if they put it in 'brake service' etc.) - which cost me another trip to an Alfa service center (and more $$) ;-(.

 

I picked up a new set of pads and rotors (knowing the pads needed to be changed went ahead and got slotted and cross drilled rotors) How difficult is the process to swap the rotors?

 

Very very simple.

 

It has been discussed before...unfortunately, it has become industry standard, accepted and executed by every one. Even if you as a dealer to just replace the pads, some won't do it. You either have to do the job yourself or go to an independent mechanic. Beware, you need Mulstiecuscan installed (and some cables) to reset the brake message you will get when you install new pads.

I am considering buying and really want an opinion from someone who does their own work. I am in Alabama. Am I going to have a hard time finding parts vs an American made auto?
