My 2020 factory order got so totally screwed up that both my dealer and Alfa kept offering freebies that got my out the door price into the 20%+ discount range.

While the price was good I'm not sure all things considered that it was worth the incredible hassle but the car so far after the first 1,000 miles is impressive.
As always, ymmv....

I briefly considered custom ordering since I'm generally picky about my cars. But decided not to go that route for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Even in the past, Alfa wasn't too good at handling custom orders. let alone this year with all the shut downs e.t.c. Found a car that was about 85% to my liking and closed the deal. Very happy at the end of the day.

I've ordered multiple foreign cars through the years and thought I knew what I was getting into....wrong...note to self...don't ever order another vehicle from Italy during the start of a world wide pandemic.

I completely understood the factory closures and subsequent delays but Alfa either had no info, or incorrect info, or total silence once they reopened about production, shipping, delivery, etc.

The GM at my dealership convinced me to hang in there but towards the end of the process, which took 229 days from order to delivery, I didn't really care anymore if I got the car or not.

But now that I have it I'm glad I waited for it....

Definitely enjoying the car....the time frame was really 281 days until I finally got the dealer issued plates and registration...and even then my name was spelled wrong on the registration...but I think my DMV screwed that up. Go figure.

20 to 25% off no matter you buy or lease. Its a fact. Until these cars prove themselves to be reliable they will have to discount them. Dealer west of cleveland will ship nationwide. Name of town starts with "S". Go for the ti sport or sport. The sport seats are nice. Make sure to check for tire pressure before test drive. They dont seem to care about over inflated tires, mine was 62psi.

If you want sport seats, you need to go with Ti Sport. Sport is plainly cosmetic, mostly exterior. Here in CA all base and sport cars come without heated seats, if that is important to you. It's to me :).

How do you calculate the 20-25% off? Car price + options= 20-25% off, then add the delivery charge? Or that charge is included into the discount?
Heated seats here in Cali is nice to have, but I would manage without it. I don't have it now either. Mazda CX5. TI's are in the 50k+ range and everything else is Base.
If I would buy from a different state, I will have to pay the tax, from out of pocket. I would prefer it financed. Also I can't even inspect the car. One of my previous car, had a pretty big scratch and I have noticed it, only after I have parked at home. I was in a hurry to buy the car. I had to live with it.

My wife and I got our Stelvio about a month ago and probably we didn't get the best deal considering the time of year but we're very happy that we got the car that we were looking for. It was quite a process for us - we went to 3 different dealerships in NY and all of them had very limited inventory so we expanded our search to neighboring states of NJ and CT but with no success due to the lack of inventory. Then I started calling dealerships within 5 hours drive (I didn't want to deal with a shipment) and I got $9K of $55K MSRP for TI Sport in one of the dealerships in PA. However, I also found TI Lusso with the color combination we wanted (verde visconti with chocolate interior) at Herb Chambers dealership in RI. Frankly, I got overly excited because I really wanted this vehicle and didn't negotiate well, so we ended up with $7.5K of $57K MSRP. Pretty sure we could get a thousand or two more off if I approached it with the cold head. Herb Chambers though was a much better dealership comparing to those in NY and it was super easy to deal with them.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Bruce May from Alfa Romeo Fiat of Strongsville (Ohio)! His knowledge, honesty and professionalism made this somewhat tedious process more enjoyable from the start! Best price quote of any dealer I contacted...hands down! Shipping included! Highly recommend Bruce!

Nice! What did you get? Specs?

I have just read today, that CR ranked AR last from all the manufacturers. 32nd place(!) This makes me very sad. I'm not sure, if I should buy one after this news.

Also, how much did you pay for it(just the car+delivery)?
I trust CR as much as I’d trust news from Facebook or Newsmax... absolutely garbage. Can’t even trust them to review appliances without bias... you may be better off with a Mazda though

Look at the actual owner satisfaction data they colllected. That tells a completely different story from their ranking.

26 percent off due to extra leasing incentives

Really dont care why it landed dead last. In this world perception is reality.
99% of the people that get a car based on their research will simply not get a car that is rated last by CR, car and driver, etc. Hence the fat discounts.
Alfa romeo needs to get busy...

AR isn't meant for people who shop for their vehicles in Consumer Reports. I'm trying not to say that in an elitist fashion. CR is for people who are looking for a people-transporter and want advice if they should get the boring Hyundai or the boring Kia.

AR is for people who like cars and enjoy sporty driving. I think that market is actually big enough to make AR prosper. They just need to start advertising. They used to know how to do it in the past.

Play the "driving enthusiast" angle for all its worth. Here in Israel, they have a proper slogan: "The fact you are breathing doesn't mean you are alive... Alfa Romeo".

Show cars with all the electrical nanny auto-driving hand-holding, and show an Alfa. One in drab gray, one in Alfa red. Then write above one "for your boring traffic jam commute to your boring office work", and above the Alfa "for fun". Come on AR, this isn't really hard.
