The 2.0 GME (Global Medium Engine) was exclusively designed and built by Alfa Romeo powertrain engineers at FCA for the Giulia / Stelvio back in 2016. It is not used on any Fiat brand products that I’m aware of. The Stelvio / Giulia version is built in Italy.

A version of the 2.0 GME engine, (well at least the block), sans MultiAir in most applications, is now used in a wide variety of FCA products from Wrangler to Maserati. Jeep versions of the GME are now also produced at the Kokomo engine plant in Indiana.

The MultiAir valvetrain system is not exclusive to Alfa and is used in a wide variety of Fiat products with different displacements.

 

MultiAir as a technology is also leased to other car companies.

Jaguar/Land Rover calls it Ingenium.

....Mazda makes it part of the SkyActive suite of technologies. Both pay fees to FIAT to do so. To be more specific, they pay fees to the Schaeffler Group, who then pays Fiat. Fiat licensed it to Schaeffler who acts as a middle man so no one has to admit they use FIAT tech....


Also, to be fair, Mazda has done insane things with the tech and taken it further then Fiat.

For a small engine under high compression there isn't a better valvetrain.

I read some of your old threads on this forum where you mentioned how the skunkworks ferrari team developing the 2.0 engine mentioned it was one of their favorites. Wonder why they said that...

 

I LOVE the 3.0mild hybrid TT motor in my Range Rover. Smooth as glass a strong throughout and stout. Did not know the Multi air connection. Thank YOu!!!

Also...realize what a loss it is we never got the other cars mentioned in that article, such as the 2nd SUV on Giorgio (hint, that was supossed to be the Tonale, but the platform was changed to be cheaper last minute), also Giulietta and 166 successors on the platform.....

Man that article makes me sad at the world we could have had vs what we do have .....the Tonale could have been a smaller Stelvio .....was intended to be a smaller Stelvio in 2016....
