Ok I was driving home from work and all of a sudden, my Start&Stop Unavailable light came on and my check engine light as well. I also noticed that my DNA mode doesn’t work, only N does.

After driving 60+ more miles, the car still drives normal, no loss of power or whatsoever.

I was just wondering if that happened to y’all before and what could be the cause.

If the software update doesn't fix it, I'm sure the battery might be low. I started having the same issues after 6 months with my 2021. I hooked it up to a battery tender and it was fine after that. I just remember to always put it on the tender if it's not going to be driven for a few days, and no problems since. I've done that with all my vehicles for the last few years, as they get loaded up with more and more tech.

When it comes to the battery all I can say is,

Ask not how your battery can be bad, test to be sure it isn't.

Not kidding, you might just be setting yourself up for multiple dealer trips with problems they don't solve... Because no one tested the battery, because it doesn't make sense it's low.

The smart charging system is stupid. Test your battery. Might be a waste of time, might solve your problem. Only reason you don't see pages and pages of battery problems is because on the forums people know to check the battery first. Back in 2018/19 when we were learning, issues like this were constant.

Bro you were totally right, it was battery related.

Ok so I came across this particular thread on Guila forum that don’t leave any phone charger cables plug in when you’re not driving your car. So I went to unplugged all my cables last night and drove the car to work this morning.

And Baammmmm!!! My S/S unavailable and CEL disappeared. Also my DNA mode started working again.

I had a GTI that exhibited the usual signs of a failing battery. After having to get jumped once or twice, I went to have the battery replaced, but it tested just fine. I thought something must be draining it. But the jumper cables were needing to come out more and more, so i took it back and had it tested again. Tested fine. Repeat process. After more jumping, I took it in and said, CHANGE THE BATTERY! And don't bother to test it. New battery fixed the problem 100%

Hi guys. Just bought 2019 stelvio. My start/stop doesn't work. I've got the button on the side with start/stop logo that I can switch on and off but I can't see anything on my dashboard. Usually when it doesn't work, it should show on the dashboard that this is unavailable, right? Is it possible that I don't have it? Or maybe it's disconnected? Any thoughts??? Thanks Rob

When the IBS is powered up for the first time or is powered after a power disconnection, it enters a “recalibration” phase, where the IBS must recognize the type of battery and its characteristics and state. In this phase the tolerances on the state functions (SOC, SOF) are greater than in normal working condition. When IBS is disconnected from the battery, the device loses its stored memory. When power is restored, the IBS starts a relearn process. Until the relearn process is complete, accurate battery state information is unavailable to other vehicle systems. The IBS relearn process requires one start and at least 4 hours with the vehicle off, electrical system asleep.

Remember, the relearn process is restarted every time power is reconnected to the IBS. This has a major effect on the stop/start feature.
