Why would you remove your JB4 before going to the dealer??? I sure don't...

Maybe, I have the best Alfa Dealer in the world. I was very upfront with him and discussed purchasing a JB4 through him and having it installed by him on my TI. During scheduled services, he simply unplugged it and ran its diagnostic without a trace.

Now, think about this of a minute. If the car is under warranty, the only way the dealer can make real money is when it breaks. If it doesn't so doesn't he. When it does, he gets paid by Alfa to fix it. As long as on their computer no tune or tempering with the ECU have been found. This is the beauty of a piggyback. What difference should it makes for him if you pay instead of Alfa? Probably none. So best case scenario, a JB4 is a win for him as well.

In my QV, I am set to have another JB4 installed in 2 weeks, by? You guessed it, my Alfa dealer again, the same! I would't even know where it is under there hood, let alone unplug it... Not mechanically inclined one bit. On top, since he installed it, he would be hard pressed charging me for something that voided the warranty. Another win for me.

Just be upfront with your dealer and it shouldn't be a problem. Any dealer trying to make you pay for repairs because he spotted an unplugged JB4 under the hood does't value you as a client. This, is the problem.

If you dealer is that friendly, be happy and feel special.
.. don't assume all dealers will behave like this. Talk to them first.

And if you go online and talk about your super firensly dealer who lets you mod your car and doesn't report it to Alfa.....

Don't give the dealers name. Wrong person reads that (Alfa rep) and reports the dealer... They will probably be punished in some form and stop those policies.

Your Dealer might not have an issue.... Guarenteed Afa Romeo does...

They are the ones paying the warranty repairs bills and they don't take kindly to dealers not following procedures....

Canada may be different, in the US at least, performance modifications and vehicle manufacture's warranty coverage are at odds with each other. (Like all things in the US of course this can vary state to state)

BTW can we take a moment to appreciate how car manufactuers install software in your car to be sure you aren't cheating them by modifying.....

....While simultaniously installing other software that allows them to cheat you and the government by modifying tailpipe emissions when the testing equipment is hooked up....

Strong. Just cause a company builds something you like.. doesn't make them your friend.

Last tip.. if you ever have to go to another dealer for work under warranty.... Remove the JB4. Or at least call and ask what their reaction will be, without giving your name or anything to identify yourself.

Dealers being friendly may mean nothing if you're sitting there with a big ticket item to be replaced that the regional tech has to come approve as well as ar usa. They required my dealership to hook up the ecu to the tool, send a set of photos of any mods to include photos of each tire tread.

Umm, pretty sure you can see it when you open the hood?

There have been posts where an owner took vehicle to dealership for service or repairs and the dealership put a flag on their VIN as having engine modifications.
This could easily affect warranty repair approval in the future.

It is a huge mistake having dealerships install mods imo. They now lose all plausible deniability that the vehicle was modded. Never put your dealership in the position to either have to admit to Alfa USA that the car was modded or to have to lie to them. I cant imagine one choosing the latter nor would I expect them to

You have a nice dealer relationship if they are turning their eyes the other way but just because they install it doesn’t mean they will warranty the car if something goes upside down. If you have that assurance, hats off to you!
