I just spoke with a dealer technician who told me how to reset the oil change interval without necessarily going to an Alfa dealer.

He said to press the start button twice without turning on the engine, then stomping on the brake pedal three times.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Hi there! I was able to reset the oil of my wife's Stelvio with the instructions that the dealer guy told you. Only thing is that the Start/Stop button was pressed once.
Thanks for the help!

HELP !! So, a couple of days ago I checked my oil indicator light after several months (4K since my last oil change). The indicator was about in the middle between high and low. I added one quart and no change. Probably stupidly, I added a second quart and no change. Now I am freaked out. No oil warning lights at all. I tried the 6X accelerator routine to reset the indicator 4 times...no change.

Any thoughts? If I had overfilled, I should see a code light...correct. I have an OBD reader and the "Torque" Android app, but it doesn't seem to have a selection for oil level.

Help? Thoughts?

Thanks!!

The "6x accelerator routine" is to reset your oil change needed indicator. It has nothing to do with the oil level indicator.
If your oil level was in the middle of the indicator. Great! Leave it alone.
You were between minimum acceptable and maximum acceptable levels.
So yeah, you appear to have put about a quart and a half too much in and are now over full.
As far as I know, the only indicator for over full is on the infotainment screen, oil level exceeding maximum.
There is no trouble light on the dash.

Good to know....live and learn. Gives me something to do tomorrow, since we are on shelter in place.

What is frustrating is after I added the inital quart, it was four days until the infoscreen indicator changed.

OK, again reaching into the murky depths of my memory before I've had my first cup of coffee... doing that buypass required taking a fair amount of the dashboard apart, right?
You don't disassemble anything, you reach into the area just below steering column to disconnect two connectors and then connect them to the bypass plug. It's tight, that's all

There are 2 things that should be reset after doing an oil change..

Both can be found in the Multiscanecu tool or done at the dealer.. One is the obvious Oil Change Service message, however the other one in the Scan tool (under the Engine section) is to reset the the adaptive parameters of the UniAir control module. The dealer is supposed to do that as well. The UniAir system deals with optimizing combustion and the variable valvetrain and the fresh oil changes those paramters based on oil thickness and evap amount or something of that nature.. Power wise you probably wouldnt notice a change, I think it has more to do with engine effiency and evap, none the less, I always reset the module after an oil change anyways..

Tried this several times.. No good for me. And yes, I tried once and twice with the start button.

You might be able to get rid of it if you disconnect battery, wait, and reconnect. I am not entirely sure though. Upon reconnecting, turn the wheel lock to lock to get rid of the errors that pop up. Apologies if this doesn't work

I just decided to ignore it. It has been a year for a garaged car. I ignore timed intervals unless we hit 2 yrs for garaged cars. I will deal with it when I actually do the oil change by fall. I feel quite certain my dealer will do it for me sometime considered the other toy and potential future toy I own.
